[jdom-interest] Question: How to preserve char references in attributes when outp utting to XML?

I have documents where are character references to 
 
(linefeed/newline) in attributes. When the document is read to 
memory as a JDOM tree these references are converted to their
actual character representation (which what I need). But I 
need to store the same character refences in the XML output also. 

What is the best way to do this with JDOM?
