Yes, I'd like to put setTrimText (or setTextTrim) back in too.

I'm going to patch XMLOutputter to do this, but unfortunately the merge 
of my previous patch of XMLOutputter into the main CVS tree is a bit 
backed up, so the diffs would be out of whack.
